We explain how to dispose of your electrical appliance correctly in order to protect the environment from harmful substances. You will find information on the Battery Act, the BattG reporting register, and the return of old rechargeable batteries.
The symbol of the ‘crossed-out wheeled garbage can’ on electrical and electronic devices indicates that you must not dispose of these devices with household waste. The separate collection of old appliances is necessary for the environmentally friendly disposal of harmful substances, the recovery of recyclable materials, and the possibility of reuse.
As a Consumer, you are therefore obliged to collect waste electrical and electronic equipment separately and hand it in at an authorised collection or redemption point, for example, at your local recycling centre. You can also return your old electrical appliances to us. We will take care of the professional treatment, recycling, and disposal free of charge for you in accordance with the legal requirements. In general, you can hand in batteries and rechargeable batteries wherever batteries and rechargeable batteries are sold.
Please always make sure to delete your personal data on the old devices before disposing of them.
Are the edge lengths of your appliance to be disposed of smaller than 25 centimetres? Then it is considered a small appliance and can always be handed over to us for disposal free of charge, even without buying a new appliance. Bring the old appliance to us at any time or send it to us.
Since 01.12.2009, the BattG reporting register has been available for battery manufacturers (importers, producers, etc.) to fulfil their reporting obligations. We would like to point out that our upstream supplier and/or the manufacturer have fulfilled their obligation to register with the Federal Environment Agency.
Please note: If the battery of the device is permanently installed, please print out the following label ‘UN 3480’ and stick it firmly onto the parcel. The device will not be delivered without this label!
Used batteries contain harmful substances or heavy metals that damage the environment and health. They also contain valuable raw materials, such as zinc, iron, and nickel, which can be recycled. The ‘crossed-out wheelie bin’ symbol indicates that used batteries must be collected separately so that they can be treated, recycled, or disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
If the symbols Pb, Cd, or Hg are also displayed under the crossed-out dustbin, this means that the battery contains either lead, cadmium, or mercury, heavy metals which, if handled incorrectly, can cause serious damage not only to the environment but also to your health.
We ask you not to send batteries and rechargeable batteries to us if possible, but to return them to a municipal collection centre. For safety reasons, the battery terminals of lithium batteries should also be isolated with adhesive tape before handing them in.
